Whether it’s “10 Simple Ways to Improve Your Productivity” or “The Ultimate Guide to Online Dating,” your audience will thank you for making their lives easier.

Gather your business besties or your existing audience for a good old-fashioned brainstorming session. Sometimes, the craziest ideas emerge from the most unexpected places. 


Borrow from Your Past

Have you written about a topic in the past? Perhaps there’s a way to revisit and expand upon it. Consider creating a series of posts diving deeper into a particular subject. Recycling can be eco-friendly and blog-friendly too.


My own example:

I thought it might be helpful to share how I came up with this week’s blog idea.

  1. So, firstly, I knew I wanted to write a blog about blogging as I’d been sharing content about blogging on my social media this week, and it had been received well. I also have an offer running in September related to blogging, so it made sense. However, I wasn’t sure which angle to take.
  2. Next, I headed over to AnswerThePublic, typed in “business blog”, and looked at the most popular search queries… with some of them being “how to start a business blog”, “blog post ideas”, and “creating a business blog”.
  3. Finally, I went to Google Trends and compared the phrases “how to start a business blog” and “how to come up with blog post ideas,” with the second being the most popular by far.
